Community Events

We get requests to participate in community events and at this time there does not seem to be a process for deciding whether we will participate, who will do it, etc. At least for now I am going to post the requests here in this thread and invite comment on whether we should try to be involved, and who is willing to take leadership in making it happen.

In the meantime I'll note that I do respond to each request, at least so far as to acknowledge it and to let them know that we are short staffed at this time and may not be able to participate this year. I also suggest that we could look at doing it cooperatively with Recycle Cycles, Bike Coop Velo etc, but again without any promises.

We organized a big bicyles collects on May 3, 14 in schools all over our
school board (Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est)
This year we would like to organize a big day of used bicycles around the
event in Ecole secondaire catholique Franco-Cité at 623 Smyth Rd.

We wonders if you would be interested to become one of our partners in
that event.

First of all...sorry for my english...that is not my mother tongue!

We would like from our partner to be presents the day of the collect; saturday May 3th.
Are you the organization who builds new kinds of bicycles? Are you the organization who do jewels with piece of bicycles?
Would you do a publicity to your members to bring old bicycles to give to CYCLO NORD-SUD?

I'm coordinating Bike to Work Month on behalf of the City of Ottawa this
May. One of our events, Gear Up, Check Up and Ride, on May 10, may be of
interest to Recyclore. In partnership with Ottawa Public Health, the day
will encourage residents to get themselves and their bikes ready to ride.
I'd love to speak with you about whether Recyclore would like to be
involved. I understand your volunteer hours are already at a premium, so
let's talk about how we could work together.

Thanks very much Mike. Great to hear from you.
We have heard from Derek Heffernan, who is a head mechanic at Re-cycles,
and he has agreed to help out for the event.
We are planning to have Derek stationed in the parking lot of the CAA
building at 1224 Wellington Street W.

CAA now offers Bike Assist for CAA members - they'll pick you and your
bike up and take you where you'd like to be dropped off.

If that location works for you, please let me know. If something else
works better for you, just let me know.

Hi, I'm a Green Team committee member at MBNA (TD) and I'm
reaching out to see if you would be able to come to our offices for bike
tune-ups/workshop sessions as a part of Earth Week like you did once
before (in 2008). Last time, four people from Recyclore came and did 3
sessions for a price of $10 per person. I'm not sure if you still do
things like this but can you let me know if you'd be interested. We'd love
to have you come!
